BrainE Hour

About Us

What are BrainE Hour meetings like?

Meetings occur on the 1st Friday of each month throughout the semester on Zoom & in-person.

Speakers get a $15 e-gift card and swag as compensation. Presentations do not need to be a completed project; they don’t even need to include data!

BrainE meetings are informal talks focused on providing STEM graduate students with a fun and low-key environment in which to talk about their research.

How will BrainE Hour improve my science communication skills?

Each semester, BrainE Hour will host a “BrainE Blitz” event related to improving science communication. These events include 5-10-minute lightning talks using only one slide.

I am interested! How do I attend?

BrainE Hour meetings will occur monthly throughout the calendar year in a hybrid mode both over Zoom and either at the Center for Discovery and Innovation on CCNY campus or at the CUNY Graduate Center. These meetings/events include, but are not limited to, a student speaker each month to share their research work, an interesting recent publication (journal club), or current issues and events in academia and teaching in general.
